On the Sabbath, Paul and his companions went out into the center of the city to find a special place to pray (13a). Paul had escaped persecution and oppression of the church and had not stopped evangelizing wherever he traveled (Acts 16:1-5), but while he was hard at work evangelizing, preaching the gospel, and teaching the word, he did not become lazy in prayer.
