2 Peter 1:17-18 - Those who have heard the voice of God - want to tell others.
When Jesus was being glorified and honored by God the Father, he heard the voice of God, which said, “This is my beloved Son; in him I am well pleased. We heard this voice from heaven when we were with Jesus on the holy mountain (2 Peter 1:17-18).
Peter was on the mountain with Jesus when he heard a voice from heaven addressing Jesus as the voice of God. Having heard it firsthand, Peter would have wanted to follow that voice and worship God and tell the saints and his colleagues what he had actually heard, and I think he would have felt that was his mission. That's why he wanted to write it down, and that's why he wrote the Second and Third Epistles, so that we could hear the voice of God in action.
