자신보다 남의 필요를 먼저 살핌 - 베드로의 반응

 

 

 

사도행전 3:6 말씀을 읽고 도전이 된 내용과 묵상하고 적용할 사항을 정리해 보았습니다.

 

Acts 3:6 But Peter said, "I don't have any silver or gold, but I do have something else I can give you. By the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, stand up and walk!"

 

 

먼저 줄 것을 생각함 → 자신보다 다른 사람의 필요를 살핌

 

 

베드로는 회당에 가며 많은 사람들이 그곳에 있는 것으로 보았고 그중 앉은뱅이가 있는 것으로 보며(행 3:1-5) 말했습니다. "내가 은이나 금은 없으나 줄 것이 있는데, 나사렛 예수 그리스도의 권능으로 일어나 걸어라"라고 말했습니다. 이후로 그 앉은뱅이는 걷고 뛰기도 했습니다(행 3:7-10). 베드로가 회당을 다니며 보인 사람들은 각자가 필요가 있었습니다. 그중 앉은뱅이는 먹고 살아갈 은과 금 같은 돈이 필요했습니다만, 베드로는 그것을 바라보기보다 그의 진정한 필요인 일어서는 것, 즉 병을 치유하는 것, 자신이 지금까지 정상적인 생활을 하지 못하도록 막았던 것을 치유하는 것에 대해 생각했고, 그러한 필요를 채우려는 생각을 했습니다.

 

 

그런데, 그때 베드로는 그러한 일을 할 수 있는 분은 오직 예수 그리스도라는 것을 알고 있었고, 바로 예수님의 이름으로 기도하라는 말씀을 기억하며 실행에 옮겨, 예수님의 이름의 능력으로 그에게 일어나 걸으라고 말했습니다. 그러한 믿음의 말과 행동이 현실이 되어 그 앉은뱅이는 일어났고, 많은 사람들이 이것에 대해 기이히 여기며 어떻게 이러한 일이 있어났는 지 생각했습니다(행 3:9-10).

 

 

저도 살아가면서 주위에 필요가 있는 영혼들을 만나고 보게 됩니다만, 그들의 표면에 나타난 필요를 보고 채우려는 시도는 합니다만, 그들의 진정한 필요를 보려는 시도는 적게 하는 것 같습니다. 그들의 진정한 필요를 보려는 시도를 하고, 그들에게 나아가 예수 그리스도의 권능을 힘입는 삶, 말씀으로 필요를 채우는 삶, 믿음으로 주님의 일에 동참하는 삶을 살아가야 하겠습니다. 오늘도 만나게 되는 많은 사람들에게 주님을 나타내고 드러내는 삶을 살아갈 수 있기를 간절히 기도드립니다. 아멘!

Thinking about giving first → Seeing the needs of others before your own

 

 

As Peter went to the synagogue, he saw many people there, and among them was a man who was sitting down (Acts 3:1-5), and he said to him, "I have neither silver nor gold, but I have something to give you, get up and walk, by the power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth." From then on, the man walked and ran (Acts 3:7-10). Each of the people Peter saw in the synagogue had a need, and the blind man had a need for money-silver and gold to live on-but instead of looking at that, Peter thought about his real need: to get up and walk, to be healed of his disease, to be healed of what had kept him from living a normal life, and he thought about meeting that need.

 

 

But then Peter realized that the only one who could do that was Jesus Christ, and he immediately remembered what he had been told to pray in Jesus' name and acted on it, telling him to get up and walk in the power of Jesus' name. Those words and actions of faith became reality, and the cripple got up, and many people marveled at this and wondered how it had happened (Acts 3:9-10).

 

 

As I go through life, I meet and see souls around me who have needs, but it seems that I make attempts to see and fill their surface needs, but I make fewer attempts to see their true needs. I need to make attempts to see their true needs, and then go to them and live a life that is empowered by the power of Jesus Christ, a life that fills their needs with the Word, and a life that participates in the work of the Lord by faith. It is my fervent prayer that I can live a life that shows and reveals the Lord to the many people I meet today. Amen!
