시편 44:1-3 말씀을 읽고 도전이 된 내용과 묵상하고 적용할 사항을 정리해 보았습니다.
Psalm 44:1-3 God, we have heard about you. Our ancestors told us what you did in their days, in days long ago. With your power you forced the nations out of the land and placed our ancestors here. You destroyed those other nations, but you made our ancestors grow strong. If wasn't their swords that took the land. It wasn't their power that gave them victory. But it was your great power and strength. You were with them because you loved them.
역사 속에 있는 모든 일들의 기원 → 조상이 아닌 하나님의 능력
시편 기자(고라 자손)는 조상들로부터 하나님에 대해 많은 이야기를 들었으며 그들이 다른 나라를 물리치기도 하고 많은 능력을 나타낸 것처럼 보이지만(1-2절), 사실상 그렇게 된 것은 하나님께서 위대한 능력과 권능으로 그들과 함께 계셨고, 그렇게 하신 이유는 그들을 사랑하시기 때문이라고 말씀하십니다(3절).
역사 속에서 또는 저희 조상들로부터 대대로 내려오는 수많은 업적과 환란, 혹은 전쟁 속에서 이뤄졌던 역사들이 우리들의 조상들이 행했던 것처럼 그들의 능력과 힘인 것으로 생각할 수 있으나 그것이 모두 하나님의 능력과 권능이셨음을 시편 기자는 고백하며 찬양하고 있습니다. 자신뿐 아니라 자신의 조상들이 직면했던 상황 속에서 그 상황을 바라보며 하나님께서 행하셨음을 고백한 시편 기자의 시야에는 하나님의 능력과 권능이 크게 나타남을 짐작할 수 있습니다.
저도 삶에서 나타나는 많은 일들, 혹은 그 이전에 많은 조상들로부터 행해졌던 많은 일들을 생각할 때 그것들이 당시의 사람들이 아니라 그 안에서 행하시는 하나님을 발견하고 하나님의 능력과 권능을 다시금 발견하며 재조명하는 시간을 가지길 바랍니다. 제가 이전의 삶에서 행하셨던 하나님의 자취를 돌아보는 시간을 가지고, 현재도, 미래도 행하실 하나님을 기대하며 살아가는 삶이 되길 간절히 기도드립니다. 아멘!

The Origin of All Things in History → The Power of God, Not the Ancestors
The psalmist (a descendant of Korah) has heard many stories about God from his ancestors, and while they seem to have defeated other nations and demonstrated much power (vv. 1-2), the reality is that God was with them in great strength and power, and he did so because he loved them (v. 3).
While we may think of the many accomplishments, tribulations, or wars that have taken place in history, or that have been passed down from generation to generation from our ancestors, as being of their own power and strength, the psalmist confesses and praises that it was all of God's power and strength. We can imagine that God's strength and power loomed large in the Psalmist's eyes as he looked at the situation that he and his ancestors faced and confessed that God had done it.
When I think of the many things that have happened in my life, or the many things that have been done in the lives of many of my ancestors before me, I hope that I can take a moment to rediscover and rediscover the power and might of God, not because of the people of the time, but because of God at work in them. It is my fervent prayer that I will take the time to reflect on what God has done in my life before, and that I will live my life in anticipation of what God is doing now and will do in the future. Amen!
